ABOUT US

Mission

To encourage and support the interests of our members in gardening, landscape and floral design; to provide service to the community through the beautification of public grounds, and in support of the conservation of our natural resources.

Monthly Club Meetings

We hold our meetings October through June on the first Wednesday of the month at various locations. The meeting begins at 9:00 a.m. with coffee and refreshments. Our business meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and the program runs from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Dues are $75.00 per year.

Civic Projects

Our club is responsible for the plantings and maintenance of the Soldiers’ Memorial year round in downtown Dover. Just prior to Memorial Day, our members plant the Soldiers’ Memorial with colorful red, white and blue flowers to honor Dover's fallen servicemen.

The Dover Library House Tour is an annual event. Our club is responsible for decorating either the dining room or living room in one of the homes on the House Tour in accordance with that year’s theme.

We also support the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in their newest endeavor, The Festival of Trees. We purchase and donate a Christmas tree that we have designed and decorated. The tree is then raffled off and given as a prize to a Festival attendee.

With guidance, assistance, and planting materials provided by our members, a class at the Dover-Sherborn Middle School plants seeds in pots and nurtures the seedlings until they are fully grown. The students then enter their plants in the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Flower Show. Throughout the years, these students have won many awards.
