Our Club History

About Us

The Plymouth Garden Club objective is to learn about horticulture, flower arranging and our environment and to put our knowledge to use in our homes and our community wherever it is applicable.
 
Meetings are held in the afternoon of the second Wednesday of the months of September through June at 1:00 P.M. at:

Chiltonville Congregational Church
6 River Street
Plymouth, MA

The Annual Luncheon and Installation of Officers is held on the second Wednesdays of
the month of June.  The location for the 2011 Luncheon will be announced during the year.

Board of Directors meetings are held on the first Wednesdays of the month at 10:15 AM at the Plymouth Public Library.

Club Membership Information: 

Annual dues:  Payable before July 1st 
Active Member Fee:  $25.00
Associate Member Fee:  $37.50
Guest Fee:  $3.00

Every member receives a subscription to the Mayflower, the news booklet of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts.

All members are invited to participate in the exhibits, either Artistic Design (Flower Arranging) or Horticulture, or both.

Each member is expected to serve on a tea committee for one meeting during the year. Any member not able to fulfill their obligation is expected to find a replacement and notify their chairman.

Meeting cancellation will be announced early on the meeting day by:

Continuing Club Projects Include: 

  • Festival of Trees at Plymouth Plantation for the Cranberry Hospice Fundraiser
  • Fund Raising including Ways & Means Table each month to fund the Scholarship & General Funds
  • Garden Therapy at Local Nursing Homes
  • Antiquarian Society Hedge House Museum Garden – Members work to beautify this historical site
  • Library Gardens Maintenance & Creation of  Exterior Holiday  Decorations for the Plymouth Library Corporation
  • Jr. Gardener Program for Plymouth Public Schools 5th graders , plus plant a tree at a selected school every other year
  • Plant, Bake and Boutique Sale – Fundraisers for General and Scholarship Funds
  • Crafting Christmas Greens and Decorations to sell to fund club’s Scholarship Fund and other community projects
  • Pennies for Pines – Saving pennies to purchase an acre of pines for devastated areas in the United States
  • Collection of Tabs from aluminum cans to benefit the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, Orthopedic and Burn Facilities.
  • Care and Share – Monthly donations of non-perishable food items to the local Food Warehouse
